Now hiring: Video Editor

Are you creative, a self-starter and want to work as part of a high-performance in-house advertising team? Our Cape Town Marketing department is looking to add a dynamic Video Editor to join us. We offer a dynamic environment in which you will be developing video ads and video content for a variety of business units including offshore property, sports recruitment, studying abroad, financial services, and more.

This role involves creating, editing, and producing engaging video content as well as lead generation video ads for multiple platforms, including social media, YouTube, websites, landing pages and emails. The ideal candidate will have 3 - 5 years of experience in video editing (preferably at an advertising agency or similar environment) and a deep understanding of storytelling and video editing techniques.

This position is ideal for someone who is creatively driven, detail-orientated and passionate about bringing brands to life through video content.

Please note this is an on-site position in our offices in Kenilworth, Cape Town.

You’re perfect for this position if you:

• Have a degree or equivalent in Film Studies, Media or related field
• Have proven experience as a Video Editor, with a portfolio showcasing strong editing skills in various formats
• Are proficient with graphic design software such as Adobe suite of apps, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Are familiar with 3D animation or other advanced video editing techniques 
• Have knowledge of colour grading, motion graphics and audio mixing
• Have a strong sense of timing, pacing and storytelling through visuals
• Have knowledge of social media video requirements and best practices, including platform-specific specs and audience engagement trends
• Have experience conducting interviews with internal stakeholders (which will need to be filmed and provided to various third-party websites)
• Have experience with videography, video editing and working with audio files
• Are a creative thinker with a keen eye for aesthetics and visual details
• Can work both independently and as part of a team
• Have a proactive and solution-orientated approach to problem-solving

Your role and responsibilities:

Among other tasks, your main responsibilities will include:

• Video production: Recording and conducting interviews with business directors and other key personnel, ensuring high-quality footage that aligns with our brand standards
• Video editing: Editing raw footage into polished, engaging videos for a variety of platforms, including social media, websites, emails, etc.
• Podcast editing: Manage the post-production process for our podcasts, ensuring clear audio and a professional final product
• Audio editing: Working with and editing audio files to ensure they meet the required quality standards for our multimedia projects
• Animation creation: Producing animated marketing materials, including website banners and social media content to enhance our digital presence 
• Organise and archive video footage and assets efficiently for future use
• Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high production quality 
• Stay updated on industry trends in video editing and applying innovative techniques to improve video quality and engagement
• Collaborate with the creative and marketing teams to ensure the video content aligns with the overall brand strategy and vision
