Our Johannesburg Study Abroad Sports department is looking to add a Sports Recruiter to their team

Additionally, the position requires managing recruitment processes, tracking interactions on a CRM system, ensuring compliance, and reporting to leadership. Staying informed on industry trends is essential to effectively market opportunities to students.

You’re perfect for this position if you:

  • Hold a diploma or degree in a sports-related field.
  • Have a genuine passion for sports, with a particular focus on tennis or hockey.
  • Are outgoing, articulate, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Can adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Are proactive and take the initiative in identifying new networking channels, cultivating business opportunities, and expanding the client base.
  • Are confident in initiating and maintaining meaningful conversations over the phone with prospective student athletes and handling inquiries.
  • Are computer literate, particularly with Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Extra points if you have:

  • Played USA university/college sports
  • Experience in US college sports either as a player, coach or administrator
  • Studied in the USA
  • A child who is or has recently played college sports

Your role and responsibilities:

Among other tasks, your main responsibilities will include:

Student-athlete recruitment:

  • Conducting proactive recruitment calls and consultations to engage potential candidates 
  • Following up and confirming meeting attendance, ensuring high conversion rates.
  • Educating prospective students and families about U.S college sports opportunities and application process.
  • Assisting with evaluating the academic and athletic potential of student-athletes.
  • Identifying and attending career days, educational expos, and sporting events to build relationships and enhance brand presence.
  • Building strong partnerships with coaches and key staff at leading South African high schools to create recruitment opportunities.
  • Actively managing and nurturing relationships with clients to drive referrals and expand the client base.
  • Ensuring timely follow-ups and facilitating a smooth contract review process for client satisfaction and retention.
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of the company’s recruitment strategies and processes.
  • Working towards team KPIs with regular performance reviews.

Reporting and compliance:

  • Tracking and recording all client communications and interactions on the CRM system.
  • Ensuring a timely and successful delivery of solutions that align with client needs and company objectives.
  • Safeguarding client personal and financial information, ensuring secure storage and handling.
  • Reporting regularly to the Business Director and Manager on progress, issues, or concerns.

Ad-hoc:

  • Staying up to date with industry trends and product knowledge to effectively market opportunities to prospective student-athletes
