SORTED WITH SABLE.
Get started with a Standard Business Sponsorship
Becoming an approved Standard Business Sponsor (SBS) is the first step for Australian businesses wanting to employ overseas talent. We manage the entire process, including:
- Assessing your eligibility
- Preparing and lodging the SBS application
- Guiding you through ongoing sponsorship obligations
With our support, your business gains the ability to sponsor skilled workers under employer-sponsored visa programmes.
Standard Business Sponsorship requirements
To qualify for a Standard Business Sponsorship, your business must meet the following requirements:
- Legally operating business – You must be able to prove that your company is lawfully established and actively trading in Australia.
- Strong financial position – Evidence such as Business Activity Statements (BAS), tax returns, or financial records may be required to demonstrate that your business can meet its sponsorship obligations.
- No adverse information – Your business must have a good compliance record with immigration, workplace, and employment laws. Companies with past breaches, penalties, or sanctions may face restrictions.
- Adherence to sponsorship obligations – Once approved, you must agree to follow ongoing responsibilities, such as ensuring your sponsored workers receive the correct pay and conditions of employment and notifying the Department of any relevant changes.
By meeting these requirements, your business not only gains access to global talent but also builds credibility as a compliant and responsible employer.
How long does it take to become a Standard Business Sponsor?
The Department of Home Affairs processes applications in one to three months and the sponsorship is valid for five years from the date of approval.
What you need to know about Employer-sponsored visas
Once you are a Standard Business Sponsor you will be able to nominate workers for employer-sponsored visas. These visas allow businesses to fill skills shortages with international talent. We specialise in handling applications for visas such as:
- Subclass 482 (Skills in Demand visa)
- Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme visa)
- Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa)
Many businesses try to navigate the visa process themselves – only to get lost in the maze of regulations, unsure which visa to choose, what criteria apply or how to even begin. We ensure each application is accurate, timely and aligned with your business needs.
